A note from Kelly

First things first: portrait sessions are not an everyday experience.

The fact that most people carry a camera in their pocket and use it every day doesn't translate to feeling comfortable in front of a professional one.

Let go of the pressure to get this right or that you should be more “photogenic” living in these high tech, digital times.

Unless you're in film, theater, or entertainment (and most people aren't), being photographed will probably feel awkward and unfamiliar. That is normal and to be expected.

Therefore, I’m not going to tell you to relax or “just be yourself” in an unfamiliar environment with lights, props, and a camera pointed at your face.

As your photographer, I will do everything I can to make this unique and beautiful world of portraiture as welcoming and comfortable for you as possible.

And here's the really cool part: even within a setting that's intentionally created, something genuine can and does unfold.

The time we will spend together, the conversations, any emotions that come up, and the experiences that we both carry, are all very real.

Whatever chapter of your life we will be honoring, my role is simply to create the conditions where it has room to be seen and thoughtfully documented.
